Sleeping disorders and jokes aside - how can one person actually go on for a week without shutting down brain for daily repairs?

Well I am example for one of them, I kept myself busy with reading books and piling up some reviews for them afterwards...

With constant flicking through phone, e-books, course material, application forms for next year, I could not shut my eyes for longer than 10 minutes without stirring around and getting that book, music playlist or notes open again, I was exhausted and my eyes were raw red but still sleep would not budge...
It's been a week and after all college work and work itself, I am still not sure that this going away at the pace I wished!
Second week has started and finally I got 5 hour sleep, which seems to me like 12 hour sleep! I feel fresh but my mood is still quizzical.
I do not mind these sleepless nights but side effects are catching up with me quickly...headaches, pain all over my bones and heavy eyelids and now my immune system is cracking up - I can feel that something is pretty wrong, but guess what I got doctors appointment just in 3 weeks time- it seems that I am lucky enough to go through this state till I get to see one!
My brain is working overtime but my body is playing - catching up!
